High Intensity Interval Training
It’s all in our name. High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, is a great time saver and one of the most effective forms of working out. A HIIT workout incorporates a set of short bursts of intense exercise balanced with short breaks for quick recovery. This method pushes your body to the max, and burns fat while building lean muscle.
In order to reach that extra burn, the workout must be intense to quickly fatigue the entire body. The technical term for this is metabolic training, which is a high intensity anaerobic exercise. By using compound exercises to train large muscle groups, like inner thighs with a shoulder press, you’re creating a metabolic workout, burning more calories and bringing your muscles to their breaking point. By tearing down the muscles, your body is building lean muscle and firing up your metabolism to burn fat. As exercise intensity increases, the magnitude and duration of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) increases, requiring your body to work extra hard to repair itself, which means you’ll be burning fat and calories up to 72 hours post-workout.

Total Body Resistance Exercise
TRX doesn’t mean you’ll be exercising with a Tyrannosaurus Rex; it’s Total-body Resistance eXercise. TRX was designed by a Navy Seal who had limited workout space; it is suspension training using your own bodyweight and gravity to create intensity for building muscle, strength, power, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability. HIP Studio integrates TRX in Bag of Tricks and Cardio Kickboxing classes.
You don’t need to look like a Navy Seal to participate. TRX workouts at HIP Studio are for all levels of fitness! Move closer or further away from the anchor point to add or decrease resistance. You choose the intensity of each exercise and tailor the workout for your body.
TRX exercises work in multiple planes, training your body for functional fitness. You aren’t just pushing and pulling or lifting up and down with one or two major muscle groups. The increased range of motion reduces the chance of injuries while developing a strong, stable core and working all the limbs. TRX makes HIP Hermosa Beach more than just your average Pilates studio.
As a kid, rebounding was so much fun; from jumping on the bed to mastering a pogo stick. However, this quality of movement has greater benefits than nostalgia from your youth. Trampoline workouts improve balance, bone density, coordination, cardiovascular fitness and organ function. A study by NASA scientists has shown that rebounding for 10 minutes is a better workout than 33 minutes of running.
The fitness trampoline makes a normally high impact exercise low impact by absorbing 80% of the shock. The period of acceleration and deceleration is increased. This is much easier on the joints compared to running or jogging on a hard surface with no give at all. It also allows bones to become stronger as they respond to the pressure of the rebound over time.
Rebounding can actually help you get rid of toxins in the body. Bouncing on a trampoline stimulates your lymphatic system which helps rid your body of toxins and waste. The change in gravitational force increases blood flow more than exercises on flat land, thus increasing the amount of toxins flushed from the body by around 15%!
